2.24.10

Had a good night last night, but a rough morning. Thank you Craig W. for finding the "cough assist" machine, it is truly a life-saver. I'm sure I will not embarrass him when I say that he had a sponge bath today -- you can imagine the stories he will tell about the 2 lovely ladies who shaved, massaged and pampered him!
Rob is resting now, snoring away. Anyone who has ever bunked with him knows that distinctive snore; I've certainly complained about it over the years. But I'm glad to hear it today, to know he's getting rest and giving his body time to heal. So...sorry John and Scott, and everyone else who wants to visit, but I'm going to keep it quiet around here for a few more days. (In truth, it's not the visitors I worry about, but his inability to remain silent that's the issue! We all know how he loves to talk, and it's just too tempting when he's surrounded by his buds).
Thanks everyone for your comments on the blog, and keep 'em coming. It's not as good as seeing you in person, but it's close.
Love, L

  2. We are seeing you have many knicknames, Bob, but my favorite is "Large Robert." How funny! That's what I'm going to start calling you... I am TRYING to keep the dog quiet for you, too. Sometimes those little white yippers across the street get started and the whole neighborhood dog chain gets going!! :) Feel free to call and say "Will you shut your dog up?" I guess the boys for that matter too!! jennie

  6. I have heard that snoring rooming with Bob on several rugby trips. I would put in my ear plugs and drink a ton of beer to try and fall asleep. Glad to hear you are resting and getting better. Linda you turned me away and I DO NOT CARE. You are doing what is best for Big Bob and that is what we want. You can turn me away anytime if it means he can get better. Take care and I can only imagine the conversation during his sponge bath. I bet it was not as funny as the sponge bath that Eric "Kid" Masterson Ty Grey and I gave you in Aspen this year big fella. I hope they cleaned you up and you feel better. Hope to see you soon but more than anything I hope and pray you get better soon. Keep fighting you are truly an inspiration to me and my family to work hard and live life to the fullest every day.

    Love ya

  7. Sorry visitors, it was my fault.

I told him to take a nap... I had a glass of wine... We messed around on the internet.... I told him to take a nap... He had a breathing treatment... I had another glass of wine... We ended up BSing until Linda returned home an hour later. Ooops...

Big Man, thanks for the good chat, I needed it. Love you.

Too all others, Sorry, at times I'm a bad Bobby Sitter, but I try to be good.

  8. Ah.....foot rubs.....Schlatter and Big Bob. It's been a while since I've thought about that. And beer.....one of my favorite subjects. I think about that often. Linda - those pics are awesome! Wish I'd been in the Hawaii shot. Bob - reflecting back on the 300+ games we played together for the Blues. We did some major damage to opposing scrums. Wish we could do that into our 80's. Keep resting and gathering strength so we can add to our memories of good times with good friends! Love you!

  9. Thanks Linda for doing this. I wish I could see the Big Guy, but this is a great way to let him know that my family & I are thinking of him. Tell him to keep fighting. I have so many great memories of being with Bob. But one memory I have, in particular, Bob wasn't there. We were at Hooper's. Mike needed someone to fill in for Bob at Sweet Feet, Inc., and he chose me. Lo & behold we started rubbing the feet of this girl named Kris, who was there with friends. A year & half later I married her, and the rest is history. So, thank God for foot massages, and thank God Bob took the night off. The Bodinson's are constantly thinking about you & praying for you. Hang in there, buddy.

  10. Jackson and I were talking yesterday about Big Bob. We were talking about how God is Great and he can heal the sick. Jackson said, "Yep, God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy!" Thinking of you and praying for you daily.
