Dear Family & Friends --
As most of you know, Rob was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia on February 4th. A simple cold progressed rapidly into a life-threatening situation, and he spent 10 days in the ICU at St. Luke's South. We brought him home on Monday 2/15 and with the help of some amazing nurses, have kept him comfortable and rested so that he can focus on getting well. It's been a rollercoaster, up one day and down the next, and I simply haven't been able to keep up with all the phone calls, emails and texts. So while I'm not a huge fan of blogs, this seemed to be the best way to keep everyone informed of his progress.
I know there are many people who want to stop by and visit the big guy - but his condition is still critical and frankly, he doesn't feel so hot - so we're going to limit visitation for a while longer. We'll take all the well wishes and prayers we can get, so keep the good vibes coming and I'll do my best to keep everyone informed.
Love to all - Linda

Thanks, Linda, what a great idea!! You've done a wonderful job, though. You are the strongest women I know who's married to the toughest man I know. You know we're just a few steps away....
ReplyDeleteVDear friends. I have had the unfortunate experience of helping my law partner who passed from lung failure due to chemotherapy not his disease. This is similar to.how the pneumonia has complicated Bobs fight. We have to change our battle plan. No longer cann we help him by gathering around him and helping him bring this disease to the attention of our leaders. He has already won that fight. Now we can help him by prayer and sending him our messages. Also by helping Linda and his kids. As much as he would enjoy our visits and vice versa. The loving and kind thing to do is to conserve his strength for his family and pray he recovers enough to see us but untill then, send him out emails and prayers. Love to all of you. Bogdan.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to keep everyone posted so you can have your much needed peace and be there for Bob. Having an army of friends at a time like this can both be a blessing and a curse. We've been thinking and praying for all of you constantly. I know it's difficult for someone as strong as you to accept the offerings of others.
ReplyDeleteYou are a proud and strong lady and Bob is such a fighter. Please know that we are only a couple houses away and will be there at a moments' notice no matter what you need! My offer to sleep with Bob still stands if your 24 hour nursing shifts stop soon. :)
Love y'all . . . Jenny and the gang
Linda, you are the strongest woman I know, hang in there!! Robbie, we love you, you are such a warrior!! Love you,
ReplyDeleteAunt Debbie and Uncle Ted
To all of the amazing friends and neighbors who have been there from the beginning ...thank you.
ReplyDeleteThis has really been a testament to the man Rob is. Even in this time of suffering, he thinks only of his family and not himself.
Rich, Mike, you are saints!
It has been such a blessing in my life to be the "wicked step mother" as Rob loved to call me.
I love this kid with all of my broken heart.
As much as the kids need me, the "Graminator" will always be there for them
Rob and Linda, I think about the two of you and family often. Know that everyone in St. Louis is praying for you and sending you all the good vibes we can!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
Shelley

Good morning, Bob!! :) Good morning, Linda!! :) Off to work but thinking of you both constantly, hope you rested well last night!! Jon is home if you need anything.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is an excellent idea. The month my father was in the ICU I spent over 2000 minutes on the phone. Too much time away from where I wanted to be!
ReplyDeleteI hope you know that the atlanta branch of your family is praying for you! Your strength is inspirational. You all are in our hearts and thoughts. Linda- you give that big ol' hunk a tomato husband of yours a smooch on the cheek for me!
We love you guys-
Mica
Hi La,
ReplyDeleteHang in there...reinforcements are on the way. Anything we can do to help this weekend....laundry, homework, schlepping the kids to sports, etc., we are on it! Give Rob and the kids a hug, and we'll see you on Friday.
Nancy
Hey Guys -
ReplyDeleteThinking of you every minute! Please let me know what we can do to help!
You are all in our prayers...
Love, Jenn, Shawn and the kids.
Blumoff fam has you in our prayers and says "we love y'all." Get well big man! Justin, Ash and Laven.
ReplyDeleteBB - Just know that there is a veritable world of people who are thinking of you and your family right now. Rest and heal my friend...that is ALL you need to be doing. Period. 'And Now' is now on the web and your message is now there for the world to see...you dont have to do it anywmore! This is one of the biggest reasons we did the project to begin with. 'With You' is currently under construction...and the message will be even stronger. Linda - give the big lug a kiss on the mouth for me and know that we are all indeed with you.

Bob and I forgot to say a special thanks to Hospice for the guidance and care they are providing
ReplyDeleteDear Linda,
ReplyDeleteWe have never met, I went to Rockhurst with Bob and reconnected a year or so ago when I was in town. Bob gave me a bone crushing hug that I will never forget. I just wanted to let you know bob and your family is in our prayers.
All the best to you and bob.

I have been invovled with the Keith Worthington Chapter of the ALS Society in one way or another since the fall of 1984 and know all too well the battle you face. Although our paths have not crossed since we left Rockhurst High School twenty five years ago I have received updates since your diagnosis from John Martin, and more recently your facebook updates. I have watched you fight this horrible illness with incredible strength, dignity and grace. You have been an inspiration to me and all I have spoken with who know you. Keep up the good fight. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Bob,
ReplyDeleteThank you keeping us informed and up to date on your fight - what an inspiration you are and have been for us all. Please know that even though many of us do not see or speak to you often you are in our hearts and minds as a brother. You have also helped educate a great many of us on the politics and positives of some of the science that is out there that can potentially improve the quality of life and, in fact, save the life of people suffering from some of these horrible diseases. My family will be praying for you and your family.
All my best,
Brenner Holland
